What is it about a sunrise that seems to make life more glorious? Is it the uniqueness of each sunrise? Could it be the brilliance of the sun’s rays? Maybe it’s all these plus a million more – for whatever reason, I try to catch the view most every day.
One morning, I waited on the sun to do just that. Waiting is not something I do well. I found myself walking back and forth, impatiently staring at the sky. “Ok, God,” I said, “anytime now. I’ve got a busy day today and I don’t want to miss the sunrise. I can see it hiding, ready to break loose. Can you give it a push, please?”
As I paced, the sun seemed to move even slower. Being patient is hard. I knew that I had to move toward home soon. “Okay, Lord. I trust that You are there for me as I start this day and every day. I trust that the sunrise will be there for me, just as You are here for me. ” With that being said, I headed for home.
Lo and behold, as I was finishing my walk, those brilliant rays broke through. I turned and smiled, letting the rays hit my face. That morning, it wasn’t just about the sunrise. It was about my attitude toward life. One of my favorite authors, Joyce Meyer once wrote, “I believe that a trusting attitude and a patient attitude go hand in hand. You see, when you let go and learn to trust God, it releases joy in your life. And when you trust God, you’re able to be more patient. Patience is not just about waiting for something… it’s about how you wait, or your attitude while waiting.”
