Where do you go to find peace? When you shut your eyes and think of a spot that you could go and relax, where is it? For me, one place is water. Something about getting away from the hustle and bustle of the world by escaping to the water’s edge calms my soul.
When I was a little girl, we rented a small cottage on Big Barbie Lake in northern Indiana. I would dangle my feet off the end of the pier and gaze across the water. The soft lapping of the cool water against my toes refreshed my mind. As my hair would blow in the soft breeze, it felt as if God was right there, all around me.
In the late seventies, our family shifted locations to another northern Indiana lake: Rock Lake. Looking at the evening sunset on the still, calm water, the childlike feelings resurface. God’s love and peace sweep over me and I thank God for so many things in my life. We all need to find peace. Find a place and wait for Him.
